West Hollywood, California (Thursday, November 13, 2008) - The night after Senator Barak Obama was elected, New York City’s fashion/art/cultural magazine, PAPER Magazine, landed at 8873 Sunset Boulevard, on the northeast corner of Sunset and San Vicente Boulevards, directly up the street from the Proposition 8 Protest Rally.

As much as they came to Los Angeles to celebrate it’s openness and creativity-and Senator Obama’s win, the PAPER crew confronted the reality that all is not well in the land of sunshine and swimming pools.

Some of the party-goers were inspired to pick up a sign and join the marchers while some of the marchers decided they were better off demonstrating their identity by dancing in the party.
Dallas, a reality television regular from VH1’s “Rock of Love” and “Rock of Love: Charm School,” said it took forty years for an African-American to win the presidency.

"Give it time, maybe in forty years; gay people will win the right to marry. Everything will fall into place."

For a reality TV star, nobody gives her enough credit for being political astute.
As the last protester marched into the horizon, the party boogies on.

too bad i never said it. i'm pretty sure it took MORE than 40 years for there to be a black president. especially since Victoria Woodhull & her vice president Frederick Douglass ran in the year of 1872. what i said was something like black people fought for their rights 40+ years ago & gay people should have done the same. instead of hiding in the closet(like most black people could not have done), they should have been protesting THEN. not wait until now.

i don't hate teh gheys.i voted for them to be married (like everybody else in their right mind) but i distinctly remember saying that night that #1 they should have done this 40 years ago & #2 they should have their little protests/rallys/parades BEFORE the election, not after. whatever
