far and away

it has been raining all day & it looks like it will never stop

so, anyhoo decided to watch my favorite tom cruise movie "far & away" directed by ron howard. i haven't seen this since the 1990s. one thing that strikes me is how cute & funny it is. lighthearted, sad, adorable at the same time. were all ron howards movies like that?idk. i dont know why it wasnt a bigger hit than it was.

nicole kidman is SOOOOOOOOOOO beautiful in this. i dont know why she fucked her face up like she did with all that plastic surgery. it wss not needed, plus i shall forever mourn her lost curly red hair.

this movie was made before tom cruise lost his ever loving mind

it's set in 1890s ireland. nicole is the spoiled,sassy rich girl, thomas gibson is her betrothed, & tom is the poor but handsome love interest. the costumes are gorgeous & i cry throughout the last half of the movie.

thomas gibson should have been a bigger star than he was.his face is still gorgeous,he was always entertaining in every role that i've seen him in. i wonder what happened there?

eventually tom cruise becomes a boxer which is funny until you realize that all modern athletes take steroids. if you look at old boxers from back in the day, they are fat.no real muscles.

nicole decides to be a burlesque dancer(getting ready for "moulin rouge"?).funny how much chemistry there was between nicole & tom here. were they already married? too lazy to look it up, yet in "eyes wide shut" they seemed so far apart.like you could tell they hated each other.

i love the part where they are racing to win the land & the native americans are all "fuck you!".
