hamlet

so right now i am watching hamlet 2000 starring ethan hawke.i have never seen hamlet, though i know the story,read the play, heard the quotes in everything. it's set in modern times, julia stiles is ophelia, laertes is liev schreiber,kyle maclachlan is the uncle, bill murray is polonius.

soak it all in.

i vaguely remember when it came out & thought then(as well as now) "why would anyone cast ethan hawke as anything?".he was ok in gattaca but really, the man has no talent.he is bland & not even all that cute.he does not have the personality to carry a movie.

i guess somebody thought that they could make a movie as good as romeo + juliet, then failed terribly. the clothes are laughable, very 1993(even though it was shot in 2000), kyle has white sprayed into his hair & everytime i see him, i just think of showgirls. julia stiles has such a blank face & everybody mumbles too much. worth only seeing for the raver pants,mini backpacks, messenger bags, & yellow sunglasses.
